Hi everyone! I’m a new contributor exploring Meshery and have recently created my first design in the Meshery Playground. I’m interested in contributing to the project and would like to know what you recommend as the best starting point for a beginner. Are there particular repositories, documentation areas, or good first issue labels I should focus on?
Hi @Aroosa_Azeem , welcome to the community! And great start with creating your first design!
Since you’ve already explored the Playground a bit, I’d suggest checking out the repositories that align with your skills and interests. From there, the Issues tab is a great place to look for good first issue or help wanted issues. Once you find something that interests you, you can comment on the issue asking to be assigned, and start working on it once it’s assigned to you. You can also refer to the discussion here for more information about the contribution flow.
I’d also highly recommend joining the Newcomer’s Meet, held every Friday from 8–9 AM Central. It’s a great way to get an overview of Meshery, understand where you can start contributing, and meet other newcomers who are figuring things out alongside you. You even land your first PR there, which is a pretty fun way to get the momentum going!
In the meantime, feel free to explore the website and documentation to learn more about the project. And don’t be afraid to poke around or ask questions. You never know, you might stumble across a bug worth filing or an area you think can be improved.
And of course, feel free to reach out on slack whenever you get stuck!
happy contributing!
Hi! I’m in a similar boat — also prepping for the LFX Mentorship (Meshery, 2026 Term 3).
I’ve got meshery.io running locally and I’m looking for a MeshMate too. Following this thread, and I’ll definitely join Friday’s Newcomer’s Meet!
