Newbie. I am new here

Hello, this is Kokole Wahid

I am a computer science student. I’ve been introduced to open-source software before, and I am looking for ways I can contribute to Meshery and find a meshmate as well.I don’t know how I can approach this. I know Go, SQL, Python, and web applications.

Hi @wahid, welcome to the community! Really glad to have you here!

If you’re looking to get started with contributions, a good place to begin is by finding a repository that aligns with your skills and interests. Head over to its Issues tab and look for issues tagged good first issue or help wanted. Once you find something that interests you, leave a comment on the issue asking to be assigned to it (do not forget to tag the relevant maintainers!). Once it’s assigned to you, you can start working on it! You can also refer to the discussion here for more information about the contribution flow.

I’d also highly recommend joining the Newcomer’s Meet, held every Friday from 8–9 AM Central. It’s a great way to get an overview of Meshery, understand where you can start contributing, and meet other newcomers who are figuring things out alongside you. You even land your first PR there, which is a pretty fun way to get the momentum going!

In the meantime, feel free to explore the website and documentation to learn more about the project. And don’t be afraid to poke around or ask questions. You never know, you might stumble across a bug worth filing or an area you think can be improved.

And of course, feel free to reach out on slack whenever you get stuck!

happy contributing!

@extra_fair_10 I am looking for a meshmate. Is that okay with you?

Hii, to look for a meshmate, you can go here , click on “New Topic” , give a relevant title like “Looking for a meshmate”, add the meshmate tag and talk about your skill-sets in the description. Take some time writing the description as this would help the maintainers with relevant skills and interests to reach out to you!
